The Road Less Travelled – Kit Spot Light on Phil ‘Duffy’ 3k Tailoring’s Modded DNC (Desert Night Camouflage) Jacket

The Desert Night Camouflage pattern is a two-color grid camouflage pattern used by the United States military during the Gulf War. It was designed to aid soldiers in concealment from older generation enemy night vision devices …

This iconic pattern has recently seen a very rapid resurgence and has currently been doing the rounds as one of the moments hot topics.

Between the ubiquitous fish tail parka and it quilted liner to Adventure Tech’s DCU/NVC Jacket these have suddenly started doing very brisk trade amongst collectors globally …

All round good guy, Phil ‘Duffy’ from 3k Tailoring and ‘man of the moment’ fresh off this years Ai500 got in touch to open up his treasure trove of kit to show us something even more spectacular.

It’s his own home custom NVC fish tail parka that has been ingeniously cropped into a more contemporary ‘PCU/RAID’ hybrid, and by his own fair hand.

To start with the fish tail was chopped, turned and stitched fitting and elasticated draw string bungee cord, replete with adjusters and a popper fastener.

A heavy duty brass YKK zipper and velcro was added to the front opening, pocket insets added and leaving the ‘cold weather buttons’ in place so the liner can be attached when used in chillier climes.

Velcro cuffs were added and using the spare fish tail material compressible arm pockets were sewn in place …

I’m blown away, by the detail, thought and ingenuity shown here and I’m sure you’ll agree …
